Main objective:

The project aims to enhance Pakistan’s capacity in detecting and monitoring earthquakes and assessing their risks.

SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

Expected Outcomes:

The project aims to make significant improvements in Pakistan Meteorological Department’s capacity in terms of infrastructure, systems and human resources. It will introduce three new areas of knowledge, namely the global positioning system (GPS), site classification and establishing geographic information systems (GIS) database. It will also strengthen the PMD’s seismological research knowledge to produce timely information on earthquakes, undertake accurate assessment of earthquake risks and better inform other institutions about those risks.
