The Second Meeting of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation Working Group was held on December 26th, 2013 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme "Targeting Mechanisms of the Social Safety Net Systems in the COMCEC Region". The Meeting was attended by the representatives of 14 OIC Member States including Azerbaijan, Benin, Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The Centre was represented thereat by Mr. Atilla Karaman, Senior Researcher, and Mr. Abdulhaki Korbayram, Researcher. Representatives of the COMCEC Coordination Office, IDB, World Bank Ankara Office and Municipality of Altındağ also attended the Meeting.

During the meeting, the delegations shared their experiences, achievements and challenges regarding targeting mechanisms of the social safety net systems in their countries. The delegations were also briefed about the studies on "Targeting Mechanisms of the Social Safety Net Systems in the COMCEC Region" commissioned by the COMCEC Coordination Office and on "COMCEC Poverty Outlook 2013" prepared by the COMCEC Coordination Office.

The Third Meeting of the Poverty Alleviation Working Group will be held on 10 April 2014 in Ankara, Turkey with the theme "Monitoring Mechanisms of the Social Safety Net Programmes in the COMCEC Region".
