Within the framework of SESRIC’s Agriculture and Food Security Capacity Building Programme (Agri-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), organised a Workshop on “Eco-Friendly Livestock Production Practices for Sustainable Agriculture” on 18-19 March 2025.

The workshop brought together 92 experts and executives from the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, as well as relevant national institutions, from 31 OIC member countries. It aimed to enhance understanding of eco-friendly livestock production practices among OIC member states, share best practices and strategies for promoting sustainable agriculture, and strengthen collaboration and coordination in addressing agricultural and environmental challenges.

Additionally, the workshop focused on identifying key issues and solutions related to livestock management, environmental conservation, and sustainable resource use. It also encouraged agricultural experts and policymakers to exchange their expertise and experiences.

Experienced experts from the International Center for Livestock Research and Training (ICLRT) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute in Faisalabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Livestock Research Center under the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) of Malaysia delivered comprehensive presentations on the following topics:

• Introduction to Sustainable Livestock Production
• Environmental Impacts of Livestock Production and Strategies for Mitigation
• Innovative Approaches to Feed and Pasture Management for Sustainable Livestock
• Best Practices in Eco-Friendly Livestock Production in Malaysia
