SESRIC and QAZSTAT Sign MOU to Foster Enhanced Cooperation

SESRIC and the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan (QAZSTAT) formalized their longstanding partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), which was held on 15-16 October 2024 at SESRIC headquarters in Ankara.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation between SESRIC and QAZSTAT in national statistical systems through knowledge exchange, capacity-building, and joint initiatives. This partnership will focus on improving statistical capacities, contributing to the objectives of the OIC-2025 Programme of Action and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promoting best practices in official statistics.

Both parties are also committed to addressing high-priority issues in statistical matters, leveraging their shared technical expertise and resources to promote sustainable development in line with the objectives of OIC-StatCom.

The MoU also lays the groundwork for further agreements that will define specific projects and activities, ensuring both parties can achieve their mutual objectives effectively. The cooperation between SESRIC and QAZSTAT is expected to significantly improve the availability and quality of statistical data, benefiting not only Kazakhstan but also other OIC Member Countries, ultimately contributing to the overall goals of OIC-StatCom in fostering evidence-based policymaking across the OIC region.
