H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK addressed the “First Meeting for Networking of Water Centres of Excellence in OIC Member Countries,” organised by OIC General Secretariat and COMSTECH in Islamabad, Pakistan. The meeting brought together experts, researchers, and policymakers to address critical challenges related to water security within OIC community.

In her speech, H.E. SELÇUK emphasised SESRIC’s efforts in promoting socio-economic development through research, policy guidance, and strategic programmes in key areas such as environment, agriculture, and food security. She highlighted the upcoming OIC Water Report, which focuses on building resilient water systems and promoting innovative water management practices to address the increasing water stress in OIC countries.

She also noted that SESRIC supports water security through capacity-building programmes, data dissemination via OICStat, and technical cooperation initiatives aimed at strengthening national institutions.

Additionally, H.E. SELÇUK underlined the importance of the OIC Portal on Water Resources, which serves as a vital platform for communication, cooperation, and knowledge sharing among OIC countries.
