Date: 18 February 2025
Venue: Virtual – Ankara - Türkiye

SESRIC held a meeting with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) to explore potential new areas of collaboration in promoting women’s economic empowerment within the business sector across the OIC countries.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the essential role of women’s empowerment in fostering sustainable development in OIC countries. The meeting also underlined the broad challenges that effect cooperation in women’s empowerment, particularly the lack of high-quality data from member countries due to differences in statistical methodologies and metadata.

Participants also exchanged view on implementing international and OIC level recommendations concerning the participation of women in labour force in the member countries.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to exploring the opportunities to touch base with other representative bodies from OIC countries that could potentially support women’s economic empowerment initiatives to be jointly developed.
