SESRIC Meet with Representatives from Türkiye’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change to Discuss Collaboration

SESRIC welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye to discuss potential areas of collaboration on environmental issues across OIC countries.

During the meeting, SESRIC briefed the delegation on its mandates, its departments, and its ongoing efforts in providing capacity-building programmes and technical cooperation initiatives. The Ministry representatives emphasized pressing environmental challenges, including desertification, land degradation, and climate change, highlighting the need for strengthened collaboration.

On his side, SESRIC outlined its efforts to raise awareness and strengthen institutional capacities through South-South cooperation, technical assistance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The Centre also introduced its training courses and projects aimed at enhancing climate change adaptation, ecosystem preservation, and disaster risk reduction across member countries.

As a potential collaboration opportunity, the Ministry representatives presented the role of ÇEM Akademi in providing specialized training on environmental issues. Both sides explored ways to integrate its expertise into SESRIC’s capacity-building programmes.

Additionally, the meeting discussed the possibility of launching online training courses on climate change adaptation and sustainable land management, agreeing to involve experts from both institutions to maximize their effectiveness and long-term impact.

The meeting concluded with SESRIC and the Ministry reaffirming their commitment to advancing cooperation. Both sides agreed on concrete next steps to enhance institutional ties and expand capacity-building efforts in the OIC region.
