H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK Holds Bilateral Meeting with H.E. Mr. Sami SMEIRAT, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship of Jordan

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Sami SMEIRAT, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship of Jordan, on the sidelines of the 40th Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore and strengthen the ongoing collaboration between SESRIC and Jordanian national institutions in key areas such as skills development, entrepreneurship, e-learning and distance education, service trade, and tourism destination development. They both discussed opportunities to focus on enhancing capacity-building efforts that support Jordan's digital transformation agenda and the broader development goals of the OIC region.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK expressed SESRIC's continued efforts to supporting Jordan's national development initiatives, particularly through the delivery of tailored capacity-building programs. She highlighted that SESRIC’s ongoing partnership with Jordan has already resulted in the successful organization of 217 capacity-building activities to date, benefiting various public institutions in Jordan. H.E. SELÇUK also emphasized the importance of innovation and digital entrepreneurship in driving economic growth, and reaffirmed SESRIC's readiness to collaborate further with Jordan on initiatives aimed at advancing the digital economy and promoting entrepreneurship across the region.

In turn, H.E. Sami SMEIRAT extended his gratitude to H.E. SELÇUK for the meeting and for SESRIC’s continuous support of Jordan’s development priorities. He noted that the cooperation between Jordan and SESRIC has been highly impactful, especially in areas such as digital skills development and entrepreneurship training, which are vital for the future prosperity of the country, particularly in light of the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by Jordan, and underscored the importance of partnerships with institutions like SESRIC in advancing Jordan's vision for a sustainable, digital economy.

Looking forward, both sides agreed to further strengthen their cooperation to support Jordan’s national institutions and to continue contributing to the development of the OIC community as a whole.
