Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise a Training Course on “Migration and Refugee Statistics” for the benefit of National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and relevant national authorities in OIC Arabic-speaking countries on 02-04 December 2024 through an online video conferencing platform.

Mrs. Eman Bani Mfarej, Head of Statistical Analysis Division at the Department of Statistics (DoS) of Jordan, will conduct the course and cover the following topics:

• Migration and Asylum
• Concepts and Basics of Population Statistics
• Migration and Asylum Statistical Data Analysis
• Global Trends of Migration and Asylum
• Migration and Asylum Challenges and Policies
• Modern Technologies and Statistics in Migration and Asylum
• Education and Advocacy about Immigration and Asylum Issues.

The StatCaB Programme was initiated in early 2007 as the flagship capacity development programme of SESRIC. Within the framework of the StatCaB Programme, the Centre collects information from the NSOs of OIC member countries through the biennial StatCaB Questionnaire, assesses their statistical training needs and capacities, matches these needs and capacities, and organises statistical capacity development activities between the beneficiary and provider countries.
