H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK Visited the Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK came together with Mr. Mohamad Hafiz KASSIM, Chief Financial Officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur to discuss potential collaboration opportunities in the field of social security. The meeting was in line with SESRIC’s initiative to establish the OIC Social Security Institutions Network (OIC-SSINET), which aims to enhance cooperation among social security institutions in the OIC Member Countries.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK highlighted SESRIC’s significant role in strengthening the capacities of the member countries through various initiatives, such as the Social Security Institutions Capacity Building Programme (SSI-CaB) and the Social Development Capacity Building Programme (SD-CaB). These programmes serve strengthen the capacities of relevant national institutions and foster social development in across the OIC region.

Mr. KASSIM, in turn, shared EPF's efforts in growing its members' retirement savings while addressing key sustainability challenges. He expressed EPF's willingness to contribute to and participate in SESRIC's upcoming programmes that are relevant to their areas of work, emphasizing the potential for mutual benefit and knowledge exchange.

The EPF, established in 1951 pursuant to the Employees Provident Fund Ordinance which then became the EPF Act in 1991, is one of the world’s oldest provident funds. Its mission is to help the Malaysian workforce save for retirement. EPF aims to build a better retirement future for Malaysians by safeguarding members’ savings and providing services.
