H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Amb. Aftab Ahmad KHOKHER, the newly appointed Assistant Secretary-General for Science & Technology of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). H.E. SELÇUK congratulated H.E. KHOKHER on assuming his new role, which officially commenced on 1 July 2024.

During their bilateral meeting, H.E. SELÇUK provided an overview of SESRIC’s key activities in statistics, research, and training, expressing SESRIC's enthusiasm for collaborating on initiatives and programs in science, technology, and innovation, aimed at benefiting the OIC countries. She highlighted the recent reports prepared by SESRIC; mainly the OIC Economic Outlook Report 2023, focusing on ‘The Rise of the Digital Economy and Bridging the Digital Divide,’ and the OIC Labour Market Report 2023 edition, which explores the ‘Implications of Rising Digitalization and Automation on Employment.’ And additionally, the International Tourism in OIC Countries 2024 report features a special section dedicated to ‘Empowering Smart and Sustainable Tourism Development in OIC Member Countries.’

H.E. KHOKHER expressed his appreciation for the warm visit and acknowledged the potential work done by SESRIC, highlighting the importance of socio-economic development efforts, particularly in the realms of technological and scientific advancement which are recognized as the backbone of social and economic development for OIC countries.
