SESRIC and the OIC Labour Centre Signed an MoU to Enhance Collaboration

SESRIC and the OIC Labour Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange knowledge, best practices, and expert competencies in labour, public employment services, social protection, and other relevant areas. The MoU also aims to promote effective participation in these fields among OIC countries. The signing ceremony took place at the SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Türkiye.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK and H.E. Mr. Azar BAYRAMOV, Director General of OIC Labour Centre in light of the two institutions’ efforts for future collaboration.

During the ceremony, H.E. SELÇUK emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that the MoU will enable the pooling of expertise and resources effectively, working towards the common objectives and goals of both institutions.

The signed MoU establishes a strong framework for collaboration between SESRIC and the OIC Labour Centre, aiming to leverage the technical expertise and knowledge of both institutions. It also targets the creation of a structured approach for undertaking joint projects that will contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the OIC countries.

The OIC Labour Centre was inaugurated at the 5th Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers by the Secretary-General of the OIC, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim TAHA, in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 21-23 November 2024. This followed a proposal by H.E. Mr. Ilham ALIYEV, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who initially suggested the establishment of the Centre during his address at the 2nd Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers in Baku on 25-26 April 2013. The Centre plays a pivotal role in advancing labour market policies, promoting decent work, and strengthening social protection systems, and other relevant areas in OIC member countries.
