SESRIC, in collaboration with the International Forum on TOSSD (IFT) Secretariat and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), organized a Capacity Building Webinar on TOSSD for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) on 10 September 2024. The event was attended by 23 officials from the Ministries of Planning and Finance, line ministries in charge of managing external support from traditional or south-south providers and multilateral institutions, National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and multilateral organizations of 5 OIC countries from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

SESRIC, as the founding member of the IFT and its Steering Group, briefed the attendees about the statistical capacity building activities of the Centre as well as its involvement with the development of the TOSSD framework together with the IsDB. A representative from Qatar also shared their experience in reporting TOSSD data.

The Webinar provided a platform for introducing the TOSSD methodology, showing how countries and organizations can present in TOSSD their official support to sustainable development in developing countries and globally, and presenting TOSSD data and how it can inform financing for development discussions.

Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) is an international standard for measuring the full array of resources to promote sustainable development in developing countries. SESRIC contributes to the endeavours of the Forum, being one of the members of its Steering Group among the intergovernmental organizations together with IsDB in support of the OIC countries.
