President of TKDK Visits SESRIC for Joint Initiatives in Agriculture and Rural Development

Dr. Ahmet Abdullah ANTALYALI, President of the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK/ARDSI), paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK to explore joint initiatives in agriculture and rural development between the two institutions.

During the visit, H.E. SELÇUK mentioned that the agriculture sector is a vital component of the economies of many OIC Member Countries and the share of agricultural land of the OIC countries group in the world total is around 30%. The Director General of SESRIC stated that in order to build upon this potential, the agricultural sector of the OIC Member Countries needs to be strengthened in the fields of food security and sustainable agriculture practices.

H.E. SELÇUK also emphasized the Centre’s role in collecting and disseminating statistical data, conducting in-depth research on socio-economic issues, and providing training programs across OIC countries. She highlighted the relevant projects and programs of SESRIC focusing on agriculture provide good opportunities for cooperation.

In turn, Dr. ANTALYALI expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and acknowledged the potential benefits of collaborating with SESRIC, highlighting the importance of creating joint initiatives that can leverage the strengths of both institutions to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development. He stated that as the paying agency in Türkiye for agricultural projects in line with the relevant programmes of the EU, ARDSI has accumulated a significant level of experience over the years which can be shared with beneficiary countries.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their willingness to take the cooperation between SESRIC and ARDSI to a higher level focusing on the agricultural and rural sector across the OIC region.

The Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK/ARDSI) aims to support and promote sustainable agricultural and rural development. ARDSI implements various programs and projects designed to enhance the productivity and livelihood of rural communities, ensuring food security and economic growth.
