An Indonesian Ministerial delegation, led by Mr. Arianto Christian HARTONO, Coordinator of International Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia (BAPPENAS), paid a courtesy visit to SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Turkiye. The delegation included representatives from BAPPENAS, the Ministry of Cooperative and Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Ministry of Trade of Indonesia. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation between SESRIC and Indonesian national institutions and to explore potential new areas of collaboration in addition to the existing ones.

During the meeting, the delegates were briefed on the Centre’s activities in the areas of statistics, research, and training. Potential areas for further collaboration, including economics, halal industry, youth, health, and entrepreneurship, were highlighted. Indonesian national institutions have been active participants in SESRIC’s programmes and initiatives, both benefiting from and contributing to various activities.

Mr. HARTONO and the Indonesian delegation outlined the scope of work for each attending ministry. They expressed their assurance to fostering synergies with SESRIC at the technical level and exchanging know-how and best practices in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating strategic policies and cross-sectional issues for the benefit of OIC member countries.

Both parties exchanged views on Indonesia’s involvement and contribution to organising a broad range of capacity-building initiatives and enhancing technical collaboration with national, regional, and international partners. The Indonesian Ministerial delegation welcomed SESRIC’s intention to formalise this commitment in the near future with the signing a Memorandum of Understanding and establishing a joint work programme.
