H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Mr. Liaquat Ali WARRAICH, Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the OIC on 12 May 2024 in Jeddah. The meeting served as a platform to reaffirm the strong and continuing partnership between SESRIC and national institutions of Pakistan.

One of the key areas of collaboration highlighted during the meeting was SESRIC’s partnership with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on various statistical activities. This collaboration has been instrumental in enhancing statistical capacity and supporting evidence-based policymaking in Pakistan.

Another significant collaboration discussed was the partnership between SESRIC and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on the Reverse Linkage Project on “Earthquake Seismological Research”. This project aims to strengthen Pakistan’s capabilities in earthquake monitoring and research, contributing to improved disaster risk management in the region.

The meeting also explored avenues for future cooperation in the areas of statistics, research, and training. Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthen their partnership and explore new initiatives.

The meeting provided the opportunity to highlight the mutual commitment of SESRIC and Pakistani institutions to continue their collaboration.
