Webinar on ‘Good Practices in Preventing Discrimination at Work and Forced Labour’

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Social Development Capacity Building Programme (SD-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO), organised a Webinar on “Good Practices in Preventing Discrimination at Work and Forced Labour”.

The webinar aimed to bring together representatives from ministries and government agencies in OIC countries responsible for addressing discrimination and forced labour. It facilitated knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities present in OIC countries. The webinar featured presentations by experts from the ILO Türkiye Office and relevant ministries from Azerbaijan, The Gambia, Malaysia, and Türkiye. The webinar gathered 48 experts and executives from ministries and government agencies in 18 OIC countries.

Key topics covered during the webinar included:

  • Overview of discrimination and forced labour;
  • International legal frameworks and standards; and
  • Case studies and best practices from OIC member countries, including:
    • Inequality and Digitization in Labour Relations by Azerbaijan.
    • Preventing Discrimination and Forced Labour at Work by The Gambia.
    • Discrimination and Forced Labour at Work: Malaysian Experience.
    • Discrimination and Forced Labour at Work: Turkish Experience.
