SESRIC participated in the 22^nd Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Agriculture Working Group, which was held virtually on 30 April 2024. The meeting focused on the theme “Developing Livestock Production and Fishery to Foster Food Security for Sustainable Agricultural Development in OIC Countries”. It brought together relevant representatives from the agriculture authorities of the OIC countries and OIC institutions including the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA).

During the meeting, participants discussed the importance of livestock production and fishery for OIC countries, highlighting the challenges faced by these sectors and exploring policy options for their development. A preliminary research report draft, specifically prepared on the meeting’s theme, was also presented. Representatives of the member countries, as well as international and OIC institutions, shared their recommendations regarding the report, along with their experiences and best practices related to the role of agricultural knowledge in developing livestock production and fishery.

SESRIC contributed by providing a comprehensive overview of its research, statistics, and training efforts in the fields of agriculture and food security. Furthermore, representatives from various institutions delivered presentations pertinent to the meeting’s theme, enriching the discussions and insights shared.
