Training Course on 'Enhancing the Competency-based Approach in TVET Curricula and Assessments'

Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC Technical and Vocational Education and Training (OIC-TVET) Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC organised an Online Training Course on “Enhancing the Competency-based Approach in TVET Curricula and Assessments”.

The training course was provided by Dr. Ibrahim AL-TARAWNEH, Assistant Director General at the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for the benefit of 29 experts from TVET authorities and relevant institutions in 12 Arabic speaking OIC countries.

The main objective of the training course was to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and abilities to effectively design and execute competency-based curricula and evaluations within TVET programmes. This also enabled them to develop strategies for effective implementation of the competency-based approach in their TVET system.

The following topics were covered during the two days of the training:

  • Curricula, Programmes and Assessment in the TVET System
  • Occupational Standards and Classification
  • Building the General Framework of the Curriculum in Accordance with the Approved Standards, the Needs of the Labour Market, and Anticipating the Future
  • Designing the Training programme and Educational Material
  • Training of Trainers
  • Physical Environment for Vocational Training
  • Continuous Assessment and Improvement and Ensuring the Quality of Training
