SESRIC participated in the Coordination Meeting with the designated national focal points of the Ministries responsible for Youth and Sports in OIC member countries, which was organized virtually by the OIC General Secretariat on 13 March 2024.

The meeting aimed to bring together the designated focal persons of the Ministries responsible for Youth and Sports in OIC member countries to ensure effective coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and relevant OIC institutions to spearhead timely implementation of the OIC Youth Strategy and the Joint Youth Action Plan. The focal points from the relevant Ministries and OIC institutions attended the meeting. Mr. Muzamil EDEMA, Researcher at the Economic and Social Research Department, represented SESRIC at the meeting.

The meeting commenced with opening statements from Amb. Tariq Ali BAKHEET, Assistant Secretary General of the OIC for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs, and Dr. Boubakari MAIGA, Head of the Youth and Sports Department at the OIC General Secretariat. During the meeting, Mr. EDEMA delivered a comprehensive presentation on "OIC's Policies and Programs for Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building”. His presentation highlighted the state of youth in OIC countries as well as the importance of the "OIC 2025 Programme of Action" and "OIC Youth Strategy" in the implementation of the policies and programs for youth empowerment and capacity building at the intra-OIC level. Afterwards, the meeting concluded with a discussion on individual country level experiences by the designated focal persons underlining best practices for youth empowerment in OIC countries.
