SESRIC held a Coordination Meeting with the ILO Office for Türkiye

SESRIC and the ILO Office for Türkiye held a coordination meeting on 20 February 2024 at the SESRIC Headquarters to discuss potential collaboration activities. During the meeting, SESRIC shared proposed activities for collaboration with the ILO, focusing on statistics, research, and training. These activities included, among others, a care economy project proposal, the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET), and the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET). SESRIC also outlined its 2024 schedule of training courses, webinars, meetings, and training of trainers (ToT), inviting the ILO to contribute with its expertise in various subjects such as Labour Statistics, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) Indicators, Strategies for Supporting Mental Health at Work, Effective Labour Market Information Systems, and Integrating Green Skills and Sustainable Practices into TVET Programmes.

The ILO Office for Türkiye expressed its interest in the proposed activities and shared their experiences, particularly in conducting and ongoing Household Survey for Earthquake Regions in Türkiye. They indicated the intention to share the survey results with SESRIC as soon as they are available. Furthermore, they expressed interest in contributing to SESRIC’s planned training courses, webinars, meetings, and training of trainers (ToT) for 2024 and agreed to discuss with their colleagues at the ILO Office for Türkiye and the ILO Headquarters the possibility of providing technical support for these activities.

This coordination meeting represents a significant step in further strengthening cooperation between SESRIC and the ILO. Both parties expressed their readiness to deepen their collaboration with SESRIC, highlighting the potential for joint activities in important areas for the socio-economic development of OIC Member Countries.
