H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy call to H.E. Nusura OMAR TIPERU, Ambassador of Uganda to the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting was a good opportunity to raise various issues pertinent to the work of SESRIC and its efforts in addressing the common challenges and leveraging the current strengths in the OIC region, including the Republic of Uganda.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK provided a comprehensive briefing on the existing collaborative endeavours between SESRIC and Uganda's national institutions, along with highlighting the potential opportunities for further expansion of this cooperation. On her side, H.E. the Ambassador conveyed sincere appreciation for the significant contributions of SESRIC in encouraging human and institutional capacities within Uganda. She also emphasized the pivotal role played by the OIC in this context. She cordially extended an invitation to H.E. SELÇUK to deliver a presentation about SESRIC at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), an Affiliated Institution of the OIC.

Both parties reached consent on various actions to strengthen their partnerships. These actions included the identification of particular domains for collaboration and the facilitation of active engagement of national institutions of Uganda in SESRIC activities.

Since January 2020, Uganda has actively engaged in 28 capacity-building and training initiatives organised by SESRIC. Notably, the Islamic University in Uganda , has played a pivotal role by leveraging its expertise to enrich the Training and Technical Cooperation Department's endeavors through active participation and knowledge sharing.

The meeting concluded on a positive note with both H.E. SELÇUK and H.E. TIPERU committed to working together to address key challenges and contribute to socio-economic development in the Republic of Uganda and the wider OIC community.
