Workshop on ‘Sukuk and Islamic Liquidity Management’

Workshop on “Sukuk and Islamic Liquidity Management” was jointly organised by SESRIC, Istanbul School of Central Banking (İMB) and the World Bank Global Islamic Finance Development Center (GIFDC) on 12-14 December in Istanbul, Turkey.

Specialists from the General Directorate of Banking and Financial Institutions and the General Directorate of Markets of Central Bank of Republic of Turkey (CBRT) have provided information to the participants about the short-term sukuk issuances realized by the International Islamic Liquidity Management Company (IILM) and the private sector sukuk market as well as CBRT’s liquidity management practices. Speakers from the World Bank GIFDC, Islamic Development Bank, Undersecretariat of Treasury and the Capital Markets Board of Republic of Turkey have also made presentations. 30 participants from 18 countries attended the workshop.

The workshop covered the following topics:

  • Sukuk Structures and Securitization
  • Regulation and Supervision of Sukuk Markets
  • Liquidity Management and Sukuk Markets
  • International Sovereign Sukuk Market
  • Current Practices and Country Experiences on Sukuk and Islamic Liquidity Management
