SESRIC participated in the 26th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Transport and Communications Working Group, held on 20 April 2026. The meeting was held under the theme “Designing Integrated Multimodal Transport Systems in OIC Member Countries.” It convened 45 participants from national public and private institutions in OIC countries, as well as representatives of relevant OIC institutions and international and regional organisations.

The meeting featured a presentation of a COMCEC-supported research project. The presentation outlined the scope, conceptual framework, and methodology for developing integrated multimodal transport systems in OIC countries. It also presented preliminary findings from case studies conducted in Egypt, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, as well as selected examples from the Netherlands and Viet Nam.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for OIC countries to exchange their experiences and perspectives. Representatives from Malaysia, Oman, Türkiye, and Uganda shared their ongoing efforts and challenges. Additionally, the International Road Transportation Union (IRU) provided valuable insights based on its experience in designing and supporting multimodal transport systems, offering a broader perspective to the discussions.

The meeting concluded with a presentation by COMCEC on its Project Support Instruments, which are announced annually under specific thematic areas to support projects in OIC countries and institutions.
