Webinar on ’Data Visualization Techniques for Communicating Sustainability Insights’

Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing and the Doha Data Forum, SESRIC, in collaboration with the National Planning Council (NPC) of the State of Qatar, organized a webinar titled “Data Visualization Techniques for Communicating Sustainability Insights” on 03 October 2024.

The webinar featured distinguished speakers from the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), and the Turkish Statistical Instıtute (TurkStat).

The webinar was attended by 56 official statisticians and experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs), and relevant national institutions of 26 OIC countries.

The discussions covered several key topics, including the importance of data visualization in SDG reporting, as well as various tools and techniques used to enhance these visuals. It also focused on effective communication of SDG indicators, emphasizing key principles and best practices to ensure clarity and impact in reporting.

In response to the resolution adopted during the 9th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) held from 28 September to 1 October 2020, which emphasized the importance of sharing experiences and best practices among OIC-StatCom members, SESRIC has undertaken the initiative to foster knowledge exchange to aid in the generation of high-quality data. As the Secretariat of the OIC-StatCom, SESRIC launched the Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, providing a platform for National Statistics Offices (NSOs) of OIC countries and statistical units of pertinent international agencies to share their insights on statistical topics of shared interest.
