SESRIC convened a high-level edition of its SESRIC Conversations series on 21 October 2026 at the Al-Aqsa Library at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to mark World Food Day 2026. Held under the theme “From Success Stories to Scalable Solutions in OIC Member Countries”, the event brought together representatives of national institutions, diplomatic missions, international organisations, development partners, technical experts and students from OIC Member Countries. The discussions focused on how successful national experiences could be transformed into scalable solutions through regional cooperation, policy innovation and strategic investment to advance sustainable agrifood systems.

SESRIC participated in the Regional Workshop on the Use of Administrative Data in the 2030 Census Round, jointly organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), from 19 to 23 October 2026 in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye. The workshop brought together national statistical offices from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, together with UNFPA and other international partners, to discuss preparations for the 2030 census round and the increasing use of administrative data in census-taking.

SESRIC participated in the High Level Pink Dialogue “From Awareness to Action: Towards Comprehensive Care for Women”, organised by the Women Development Organization (WDO) in collaboration with Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), in Cairo, Egypt, on 19 October 2026. Dr. Fatma SAYAR, Assistant Researcher at the Research Department of SESRIC, delivered a presentation titled “Women’s Health and Breast Cancer in OIC Member Countries” during the panel discussion “Breast Cancer: From Diagnosis to Recovery - A Comprehensive Approach to Women’s Needs.”

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK attended the “10 Years Building the Future” programme, organised by the Turkish Maarif Foundation on 15 October 2026 to mark the 10^th anniversary of its establishment.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with Minister Plenipotentiary Mr. Tarek EL NABULSY, Director of Social Affairs at the League of Arab States, to discuss opportunities for further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

At the opening of the Seventh Edition of the Mediation for Peace Certificate Program, organised by the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye on 14 October 2026, Dr. Atilla Karaman delivered the message of H.E. Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh AHMED, Secretary-General of the OIC.

SESRIC participated virtually in the Meetings of International Forum on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) held in hybrid format on 13–16 October 2026 in Lima, Peru. The programme included the 3^rd General Assembly Meeting of the International Forum on TOSSD (IFT) on 13–14 October, the 7th Meeting of the Steering Group on 14–15 October, and the 3rd Meeting of the Statistical Working Group (SWG) on 16 October 2026.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Prof. Hani SEWILAM, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, to discuss opportunities for further strengthening cooperation between SESRIC and the Ministry.

A SESRIC delegation participated in the Global Social Innovation Index (GSII) Expert Workshop, held on 13–14 October 2026 in Casablanca, Morocco. Organized by the Government Council for Social Innovation (GCSI) in collaboration with Hassan II University of Casablanca, the workshop brought together representatives from Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, and relevant international institutions to jointly refine a robust Global Social Innovation Index by integrating academic and regional perspectives.

SESRIC participated online in the workshop titled “Combating Counterfeiting and Enhancing Trust,” organised by the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) in cooperation with the Russian news agency Sputnik on 13 October 2026. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of news agencies in OIC Member Countries to address the growing challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content, particularly deep fakes and other forms of misleading digital information.

Within the framework of the OIC Social Security Institutions Network (OIC-SSINET), and the Social Security Institutions Capacity Building Programme (SSI-CaB) and the Digital Transformation Capacity Building Programme (Digi-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye and the Social Security Organization of Malaysia (PERKESO), organised an online Training Course on “Digital Transformation and Data Analytics in Social Security” on 13-14 October 2026.

Within the framework of the SESRIC Project on “Strengthening Egypt’s Cultural Tourism Destination Brand through Sharing Experiences”, the Centre organised a Workshop on “Community-Led Management of Islamic and Rural Heritage Tourism” on 13–14 October 2026 in Cairo, Egypt. The project was co-funded under the 13^th Call for Project Proposals of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) Project Funding.

On the sidelines of the opening of the Workshop on “Community-Led Management of Islamic and Rural Heritage Tourism”, H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Sherif Fathi ATTIA, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt.

During the opening of the Workshop on “Community-Led Management of Islamic and Rural Heritage Tourism” in Cairo on 12 October 2026, H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK presented a symbolic key to H.E. Sherif Fathi ATTIA, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, in celebration of Cairo as the OIC City of Tourism 2026.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK delivered the message of H.E. Ismail Ould CHEIKH AHMED, Secretary-General of the OIC, at the opening of the Workshop on “Community-Led Management of Islamic and Rural Heritage Tourism”, organised by SESRIC in Cairo on 12 October 2026 as part of its commemorative activities celebrating Cairo as the OIC City of Tourism 2026.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Akram Ahmed ELGOUHARY, President of the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

SESRIC welcomed a group of Somali students studying at Turkish universities to its headquarters. During the visit, SESRIC delivered a presentation on the history and structure of the OIC, as well as the mandate, departments, and ongoing capacity-building and technical cooperation initiatives of SESRIC. The meeting provided a platform for engaging discussions on enhancing cooperation.
