SESRIC organised a Professional Skills for Official Statisticians Course on ‘Effective Written Communication Techniques’ on 18-19 March 2019 at the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of the Republic of Albania within the framework of OIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme.

The Course was conducted by Mrs. Wan Siti Zaleha binti Wan Zakaria, Statistician at the Department of Statistics of Malaysia (DoSM), with the participation of relevant officials of the INSTAT of Albania.

The Course included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

• The Functions of Communication;
• Barriers to Effective Communication;
• Analysing the Audience and Adapting the Message;
• Connecting with the Audience through Writing;
• Techniques for Report Writing;
• How to Present İnformation Differently: Text, Graphs, Tables, Flow Charts and Diagrams;
• Internal Communications;
• Leveraging Social Media as a Communication Tool; and
• Effective Communication in Social Media
