Training Course on 'Competition Law and Policy' in Gambia

Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) organised a training course on “Competition Law and Policy” within the framework of the OIC Capacity Building Programme for Competition Authorities (OIC-CA-CaB) on 27-28 March 2014 in Serrekunda, Gambia. The course was provided by Mr. Çağlar Deniz Ata, Senior Competition Expert and Mr. Nevruz Özdemir, Competition Expert, Turkish Competition Authority and attended by experts from the Gambia Competition Commission.



The training course on “Competition Law and Policy” mainly covered the following subjects;

  • Application of Competition Policy/Law
  • Challenges in Detecting Hard Core Cartels
  • Detecting Abuse of Dominance/Unilateral and Collective Dominance Criteria Used to Assess Dominance/Market Power
  • Dominance Position and Market Analyses
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Establishment of Market Shares
  • Deal with Concerted Anti-Competitive Practices
