SESRIC participated in the 6th Consultative Forum of Regional Cooperation Organizations (RCOs) in the OIC Region, convened by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco, on 5–6 October 2026. The Forum brought together more than 28 regional and international organizations to exchange perspectives and explore opportunities for strengthening regional cooperation and advancing a shared agenda for regional integration across the OIC region.
During the Forum, SESRIC highlighted its institutional approach to fostering partnerships and facilitating cooperation among OIC Member Countries and relevant regional and international stakeholders. In its intervention, the Centre presented a range of partnership mechanisms and instruments employed to support collaborative action, including cooperation matrices, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), intra-OIC networks and knowledge-sharing platforms and portals, as well as Reverse Linkage projects implemented in cooperation with IsDB and projects supported through the COMCEC Project Funding. SESRIC emphasised that sustainable financing, effective coordination and complementarity among regional cooperation organizations are essential to translating shared priorities into scalable and impactful joint initiatives. The Centre also reaffirmed its readiness to strengthen collaboration with RCOs and other partners within the scope of its mandate and available resources.
As part of the Forum’s thematic group discussions, SESRIC contributed to the session on seaports and logistics connectivity, alongside representatives from the Centre for Mediterranean Transport Studies (CETMO), International Road Transport Union (IRU), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation and the IsDB. The discussion built upon the findings of the IsDB–ICDT Port Capacity Assessment Study and examined opportunities for enhancing connectivity, coordination and efficiency across regional transport and logistics systems.
