A SESRIC delegation participated in the 27th Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group held on 21-22 September 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye, under the theme “Promoting a Resilient Agriculture Sector against Climate Change in OIC Member Countries.” The Meeting brought together representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture of OIC Member States, including Algeria, Benin, Gabon, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, The Gambia, Tunisia, and Türkiye, as well as representatives of relevant OIC institutions.
During the Meeting, participants reviewed the COMCEC Agriculture Outlook 2026 and discussed the draft research report on promoting a resilient agriculture sector against climate change. They also exchanged national experiences and perspectives, examined lessons learned from selected case studies, and discussed relevant policy options. Representatives of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and the FAO Subregional Office for Central Asia (FAO-SEC) also shared their perspectives and experiences.
The Meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the COMCEC Project Support Programmes and their potential contribution to strengthening agricultural resilience and cooperation among OIC Member Countries.
On the second day, participants held a policy debate session focusing on the formulation of policy recommendations to strengthen the resilience of the agriculture sector against climate change in OIC Member Countries. Drawing on the discussions and experiences shared during the Meeting, participants formulated a set of policy recommendations, which will be submitted for consideration at the 42nd COMCEC Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for 31 October–3 November 2026.
