H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dr. Shezra Mansab Ali Khan KHARAL, State Minister for Climate Change and Environment of Pakistan, on the margins of the Women and Climate Summit at Oman Climate Week.
The two sides discussed avenues for strengthening cooperation in the areas of climate change, environmental and disaster-related statistics, including the Ministry’s potential contribution as a resource institution to future activities, drawing on Pakistan’s relevant experience and expertise. Both sides commended the Sultanate of Oman for providing an important platform for dialogue and cooperation on climate action.
They also welcomed the forthcoming COP31 and the Zero Waste initiative, and agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation within these frameworks through joint projects and capacity-building initiatives, including the sharing of good practices and expertise with OIC countries.
To date, SESRIC has organised 210 capacity-building activities for Pakistani public institutions, while Pakistan has also contributed as a provider country in SESRIC’s capacity-building programmes.
