SESRIC held an expert-level online meeting with the Water and Amelioration Scientific Research Institute (SMETI) of the Republic of Azerbaijan to follow up on the implementation of the MoU previously signed between the two institutions and to discuss future areas of cooperation.

The meeting focused on exploring the development of a joint three-year work programme under SESRIC’s Water Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB). The two sides exchanged views on potential capacity-building activities, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and technical cooperation opportunities in the field of water, with particular emphasis on innovative approaches and emerging technologies.

The discussions also highlighted SMETI’s expertise and training capacities and explored opportunities for sharing Azerbaijan’s experience and best practices with other OIC Member Countries through joint training activities and technical cooperation initiatives.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination and working together on a structured programme of activities to further strengthen cooperation in the water sector across the OIC region.
