Within the framework of its Environment Capacity Building Programme (Environment-CaB), SESRIC will organise a Study Visit on “Exploring Energy Generation from Landfill” on 22-23 June 2026 in Konya, Republic of Türkiye. The study visit is jointly organised in collaboration with the Konya Metropolitan Municipality for the benefit of participants from the Mayoralty of Baghdad and the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq.

The main objective of the study visit is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices in sustainable municipal solid waste management and renewable energy production. During the two-day programme, the Iraqi delegation will have the opportunity to observe the operational and technical processes involved in converting landfill waste into electricity.
