SESRIC contributed to the High-Level Side Event “Towards Inclusive Social Development within a Framework of Social Justice”, held on 3 February 2026 on the margins of the 64th Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD64) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Organised by the League of Arab States (LAS), in an effort to strengthening Arab–international joint action and aligning regional endeavours with the global social development agenda, particularly the Doha Declaration adopted by the Second World Summit for Social Development, the event brought together high-level representatives from relevant national, regional and international entities.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK delivered remarks through a video-recorded message underscoring that social development and social justice are central to sustainable development. She underlined the OIC’s firm commitment to social development, guided by principles of human dignity, solidarity, and justice, and supported by key policy frameworks, including the OIC Programme of Action and the OIC Plan of Action on Persons with Disabilities.

H.E. SELÇUK also emphasised SESRIC’s role in supporting member countries through evidence-based research, statistics, and capacity-building, covering critical social domains and SDG monitoring, to help translate shared values into data-driven policies and concrete action.

This high-level side event aimed to provide a platform to enhance dialogue and exchange perspectives through exploring Arab and International policies and experiences in the fields of social inclusion, social protection, the reduction of multidimensional poverty, and the protection of the most vulnerable groups.
