Venue: UN Headquarters - New York, USA

SESRIC delegation participated in the 64th Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD64), which was convened on 2-10 February 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The event brought together representatives from UN member states, UN entities, International Organisations, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from different regions worldwide.

SESRIC delegation engaged actively in the CSocD64 sessions and contributed to several side events organised by the OIC countries, international organisations, NGOs, and other relevant institutions. In addition, SESRIC representatives held various bilateral meetings with participating delegates to strengthen existing ties and explore new avenues of collaboration particularly on matters related to social development.

As part of its contribution, SESRIC also organised a side event titled Panel Discussion on “Activating the Ability Dividend: Policies for Socio-Economic Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities in OIC Member Countries” on the margins of the CSocD64 on 4 February 2026. The side even shed light on the barriers and opportunities for disability inclusion in addition to showcasing innovative policy models, programmatic innovations and technological solutions that enable socio-economic empowerment and accessibility for persons with disabilities in the OIC region.

The priority theme of the CSocD64 focused on “Advancing Social Development and Social Justice through Coordinated, Equitable, and Inclusive Policies”. For further details on the CSocD64, please refer to the following link: https://social.desa.un.org/csocd/64th-session.
