As part of its Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), will organise a Webinar on “Social Protection Statistics” on 20 January 2026 through an online video conferencing platform. The main aim of the webinar is to strengthen the capacity of National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of OIC Member Countries in producing, integrating, and using high-quality social protection statistics for evidence-based policymaking.

Specifically, the webinar aims to:

  • Enhance understanding of international concepts, classifications, and indicators related to social protection statistics;
  • Promote the effective use of administrative data and improved coordination between NSOs and relevant line ministries;
  • Share good practices and country experiences in measuring social protection coverage, adequacy, and expenditure;
  • Discuss approaches to strengthening social protection statistics in crisis and post-crisis contexts;
  • Identify opportunities for technical assistance and capacity building under SESRIC’s Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme.

The webinar is organised within the framework of the OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision 2030 and the OIC-StatCom Programme of Action 2026-2030. The target audience includes officials and technical experts from NSOs, representatives of ministries responsible for labour, social affairs, health and social development, as well as experts from relevant regional and international organisations involved in social protection measurement, monitoring and policy analysis.

The programme will feature sessions on global frameworks and practices in social protection statistics, the production of national social protection statistics through interinstitutional coordination, and country experiences from OIC Member Countries, followed by a wrap-up and closing.
