SESRIC delegation led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, participated in the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2), on 4-6 November 2025 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha.

Building on the 10 Commitments of the 1995 Summit and the Copenhagen Declaration, WSSD2 aimed to accelerate action on poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, and social inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. It aimed to address persistent gaps, reaffirm global commitment to social development, and give new momentum to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Summit brought together heads of governments, representatives of international organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society, private sector, and academic institutions, to engage on social development issues at the highest level and advance social progress, ensuring that no one is left behind in the global sustainable development journey.

During the Summit, SESRIC delegation participated in various side-events and as part of its contribution to the Summit, the Centre organised two side-events titled “Digital Pathways to Formalization in the Social and Solidarity Economy: Accelerating Social Inclusion and Accessibility” and “The Circle of Care: Families Supporting the Young, the Old, and All in Need” bringing together high-level speakers from various national institution, regional and international organisations, as well as NGOs known for commendable efforts in advancing social development.
