SESRIC participated in the Third CIS International Statistical Forum

SESRIC participated in the Third CIS International Statistical Forum “Prospects of Statistics: International Projects” held on 24-26 September 2025 hosted by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku.

The Forum brought together statisticians from the NSOs, international organizations, and experts from public authorities and academia. Among others; recent methodologies, national and international practices, current status and future prospects were discussed about the global statistical projects, namely:

  • System of National Accounts 2025
  • International Comparison Program 2024
  • Population and Housing Censuses round 2030
  • SDGs monitoring

During the session titled “Innovations Transforming Statistics,” representing SESRIC, Mr. Abdulhamit ÖZTÜRK, Senior Statistics Officer at SESRIC, delivered a presentation titled “StatCaB Programme: Facilitating Statistical Cooperation for Capacity Development.” The presentation covered the statistical outreach activities of the Centre, including the training courses, workshops and webinars, and underlined the existing and future collaboration with the member countries and other regional and international organisations for the conduct of statistical projects and activities related to the global statistical agenda that have been discussed throughout the Forum.

The OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) was also highlighted as a high-level platform among the NSOs of OIC countries which collaborates with regional and international organisations on various statistical domains and matters embedded under OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision 2030 and its Programme of Action for 2026-2030 to be adopted at the 14th Session of the OIC-StatCom.

The Forum provided a platform for SESRIC to hold bilateral discussions with the OIC member countries participating in the Forum as well as the possible collaboration with other international organisations such as CIS-Statcommittee, FAO, UNDP, UNESCAP, World Bank concerning the organisation of joint statistical capacity building activities.
