H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Karima BOUNEMRA, Director of the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) on 2 September 2025 in Dakar.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK provided insights on SESRIC efforts in various socioeconomic fields with particular emphasis on trainings and capacity building activities in areas of mutual interest. Both sides discussed ways and means of enhancing South-South cooperation, particularly in the fields of statistics, economic development, poverty alleviation, digitalisation and women’s economic empowerment. H.E. SELÇUK and H.E. BOUNEMRA agreed on initiating necessary preparations for signing an MoU between the two institutions to facilitate collaborations in a systematic manner.

IDEP is a Pan-African institution established in 1962 by the UN General Assembly to support the development needs of 54 African Member Countries. It started its operations in November 1963 to support newly independent African countries in building their human resource capacities, which were essential for maintaining independence & promoting socio-economic development. IDEP functions as a subsidiary body of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and is structurally integrated into UNECA’s overall strategy.
