H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E Dr. Maxime HOUINATO, Regional Director of UN Women for West and Central Africa on 2 September 2025 during the mission to Dakar, Senegal. Both sides discussed ways and means of leveraging expertise for joint initiatives geared towards women and girls’ empowerment on topics related to entrepreneurship, skills development, and the care economy.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK provided insights on SESRIC efforts in socio-economic matters with particular emphasis on women, including the technical background reports, strategic documents, statistical activities and relevant capacity building programmes.

Furthermore, the discussions centred around the challenges that face women in West and Central African OIC countries and potential solutions to tackle them to ensure their active participation in labour market and decision-making across sectors.
