The training session, designed to familiarize participants with the rationale, structure, and practical use of the OIC Health Portal, as well as its relevance to the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action, brought together 45 nominated focal points from Ministries of Health and other relevant public authorities across 15 OIC Member Countries, as well as representatives from the General Secretariat of the OIC and COMSTECH.

The following topics were covered during the session:

  • SESRIC Efforts in the Domain of Health
  • Background and Federated Ownership Model
  • Brainstorming Session for the Future Management of the Portal
  • Interactive Hands-on Session on the Use of OIC Health Portal

The OIC Health Portal serves as the main information-sharing platform for the OIC activities in the health domain among Ministries of Health of the Member States and other partners. It provides all relevant data, and services as a repository for all reports and publications regarding health. To achieve the desired goals and objectives and to maintain a high standard during the entire duration of the Portal’s lifecycle, the content management is based on federated ownership. The ownership and maintenance of the content is, therefore, distributed among the stakeholders including Ministries of Health, relevant OIC institutions, international partners, and NGOs working in the health domain.
