H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a virtual meeting with Dr. Najat Maalla M’JID, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, on 25 March 2025.

During the meeting, both engaged in a fruitful discussion on child welfare, the Covenant on the Rights of the Child in Islam, and possible venues for cooperation. They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address pressing issues related to children's rights and welfare across OIC Member States.

H.E. SELÇUK emphasized SESRIC’s ongoing commitment to supporting OIC countries through research, statistical tools, and capacity-building programs aimed at addressing critical issues such as child welfare. The Centre’s role in fostering intra-OIC cooperation under the OIC-2025 Programme of Action, which prioritizes child welfare as a key area of development, was also noted.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to explore further cooperation, including joint initiatives focused on combating child malnutrition, preventing child labor, and enhancing child protection systems across the OIC Member States.
