Training Course on ‘Safety and Health in the Use of Chemicals at Work’

Within the framework of SESRIC Occupational Safety and Health Capacity Building (OSH-CaB) Programme and in line with the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) Work Plan 2024-2025, SESRIC will organise a virtual Training Course on “Safety and Health in the Use of Chemicals at Work”, in collaboration with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) of the Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia, on 9-10 April 2025.

The training course aims at addressing all aspects of dealing with chemicals, including production, storage, use, transport and disposal, and providing insights on approaches to problems and solutions concerning safety and health in the use of chemicals at work for the benefit of the OIC Member Countries.

The training course will cover the following topics:

  • Recognising Chemical Hazard: Identification, Classification & Safety Precaution;
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) on Workplace Health & Hygiene;
  • Safe Storage, Handling & Disposal of Chemicals;
  • Chemical Exposure, Control Measure & Communication Strategy in Emergency/Disaster Context;
  • Harmonisation of National Laws & Regulations with International Standards for Chemicals Use; and
  • Transitioning to Safer Chemicals: Future Prospects & Innovations for Safety Management.

SESRIC launched the Occupational Safety and Health Capacity Building (OSH-CaB) Programme in 2020 to support the efforts of the OIC Member States in improving workplace safety and health, reducing occupational risk of injury and disease.
