H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK Holds Meeting with H.E. Amb. Hameed Ajibaiye OPELOYERU, Permanent Observer of OIC to the United Nations

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Amb. Hameed Ajibaiye OPELOYERU, Permanent Observer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the United Nations, on the margins of the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, USA.

During the meeting, both dignitaries engaged in an insightful exchange of views on fostering socio-economic development across OIC Member States. They underscored the significance of data-driven policies in shaping effective strategies to address pressing socio-economic challenges, with a particular focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

H.E. SELÇUK highlighted SESRIC’s commitment to supporting OIC countries through research, statistical analyses, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing policy effectiveness. She also reiterated SESRIC’s role in promoting Capacity-building Programmes to strengthen intra-OIC cooperation in key developmental areas.

H.E. OPELOYERU commended SESRIC’s efforts in advancing socio-economic research and fostering cooperation among OIC institutions. He emphasized the importance of leveraging statistics and strategic collaborations to enhance the impact of OIC’s initiatives on sustainable development and south-south cooperation.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to reinforcing cooperation between SESRIC and the OIC Permanent Observer Mission to the UN, particularly in areas related to statistical research, policy development, and capacity-building programmes that contribute to the overall progress of OIC Member Countries.
