SESRIC Delegation, Led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Participates in the 10th World Halal Summit

SESRIC participated in the 10th World Halal Summit, organised by the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in collaboration with other relevant OIC institutions on 27-30 November 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The Summit brought together experts, businesses, leaders, and policymakers from across the Halal industry to discuss trends, innovations, and opportunities.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK addressed the opening ceremony of the Summit and highlighted the opportunities and challenges within the Halal industry, which serves approximately 2 billion Muslim consumers worldwide under multiple sectors, including finance, tourism, food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. During her address, H.E. SELÇUK emphasised the Halal industry's role in job creation, innovation, and setting global standards. She also stressed that the development of the Halal industry is not just an economic issue but a reflection of Islamic faith and values. The Halal industry was valued at 6.3 trillion USD in 2022, and it is projected to reach 9.7 trillion USD by 2027. She also underscored SESRIC’s efforts in the Halal Industry through its research, statistics, as well as activities and initiatives implemented under its Halal Capacity-Building Programme (Halal-CaB).

The World Halal Summit, held annually, serves as a platform for global discussions on the growth and development of the Halal industry. It focuses on promoting Halal standards and fostering collaborations among governments, businesses, and organisations, ensuring the continued expansion of the sector in alignment with Islamic values and global consumer demands.
