H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK Participates in the Ministerial Forum on Green Good Governance at COP29 in Baku

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK participated in the Ministerial Forum on Green Good Governance (3G), held as a side event of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) on 14 November 2024 in Baku. The Forum was organised by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Forum hosted panel sessions and case studies contributed by ministers and high level public officials, and representatives of international organisations. The Forum facilitated discussions on elevating public service innovations to meet ecological challenges, role of global cooperation in green governance, and artificial intelligence practices.

In the panel discussion on the “Role of Global Cooperation in Green Governance”, H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK emphasized the efforts of SESRIC to foster green good governance in OIC Member Countries through data-driven initiatives, capacity building programmes and strategic partnerships, enabling the identification and addressing of key challenges collectively.

H.E. SELÇUK also underlined the importance of experience sharing for achieving green good governance towards more sustainable future. This is also reflected in the progress of many OIC countries in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI). In terms of EGDI, 14 OIC Member Countries, namely Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, Albania, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Kuwait, Azerbaijan and Brunei have made significant progress and were listed in the “Very High EGDI” category by United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN) in 2024.
