Date: 10 March 2025
Venue: New York, USA

SESRIC participated in the Women's Forum on Addiction and Recovery (WFAR), held on 10 March 2025 on the margins of the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69). Organised by the Turkish Green Crescent (Yeşilay) and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Türkiye, the Forum addressed challenges in women's recovery, inclusive rehabilitation models and international policies in OIC countries.

During the Forum, SESRIC delivered a presentation entitled "Addiction and Its Socio-Economic Impact on Women and Families in OIC Countries and the World," highlighting the multifaceted nature of addiction, encompassing both substance-related and behavioural addictions. The presentation also underlined the growing efforts of OIC Member Countries to address the harmful effects of alcohol and tobacco. Over the past decade, the number of OIC countries implementing policies on alcohol increased from 17 to 32, while those implementing tobacco-related policies rose from 30 to 46, reflecting progress in strengthening preventive measures and public health policies.
