SESRIC participated in the Third Kazan Global Youth Summit, held on 22–23 August 2024 in Kazan, Tatarstan. The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF). The Summit was attended by high-level policymakers, representatives of the Ministry of Youth, the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), relevant OIC organs and youth delegates from the OIC countries and beyond.

The Summit consisted of ministerial plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive workshops dedicated to the following topics: digitalization; modern tools in youth policy; traditional values in the globalization era. Additionally, the event included sessions on best practices for artificial intelligence and virtual reality, digital trends and solutions in the youth environment, and the mental health of young people. A High-level meeting of Youth and Sports Ministers also took place within the framework of the Summit, with the participation of official representatives of the OIC.

Representing SESRIC, Mr. Abdulhamit ÖZTÜRK, Senior Statistics Officer, delivered a presentation on the “State of Youth in OIC Countries” during the Summit. He briefed the delegates about the current state of youth in OIC countries with a special section on planning for the next generation of jobs and employment, reflecting challenges and opportunities as well as policy recommendations for getting prepared for the future of work.

At the conclusion of the Summit, the Declaration of the Third Kazan Global Youth Summit expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly the youth of Palestine, in their pursuit of a dignified life within an independent and sovereign state. The Summit also served as a platform for implementing joint children’s and youth initiatives, as well as long-term cooperation programs in the Islamic world, BRICS countries, and the Asia-Pacific region.
