Date: 12 August 2024
Venue: Virtual – Cairo - Egypt

SESRIC participated in the symposium on "Palestinian Women and Girls: Challenges and Resilience", hosted virtually by the Women Development Organization (WDO) on 12 August 2024. The symposium brought together global leaders, experts, and advocates to address the impact of the ongoing conflict on Palestinian women and girls, explore potential solutions, and discuss support mechanisms.

The symposium underscored the importance of affirming the rights of Palestinian women to live with dignity, peace, and equality, and highlighted their entitlement to the same freedoms as women globally, including access to health care, education, and employment opportunities.

The objectives of the symposium were to highlight the challenges faced by Palestinian women and girls, particularly in Gaza, and the violations of their basic human rights. The event aimed to discuss post-conflict initiatives and explore opportunities for international support to improve their lives.

Additionally, it sought to showcase stories of resilience, emphasizing the crucial role Palestinian women play in sustaining their families and communities.

The symposium also introduced WDO’s upcoming flagship report on Palestinian women and girls and called for collaboration and support from strategic partners.

The symposium concluded with several key recommendations to enhance collaboration with Palestinian organizations, improve data collection on essential needs, increase political and media support, expedite recovery efforts, strengthen partnerships, and provide both financial and practical support to Palestinian women and girls.
