Courtesy Call to Ambassador of the Gambia in Ankara to Strengthen Collaboration in Capacity Building and Technical Cooperation

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Alkali Fanka CONTEH, Ambassador of the Gambia in Ankara. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in capacity building and technical cooperation initiatives between SESRIC and The Gambia.

During the discussions, H.E. SELÇUK highlighted SESRIC’s commitment to advancing technical cooperation with the Gambian national institutions. Currently, SESRIC offers 21 sector-specific capacity building programs focusing on official statistics, Central Banks, agriculture and food security, water resources management, social development, diplomacy, and others.

Since the initiation of these programs, 95 activities have been organized, bringing together 252 participants from the Gambia. These activities encompassed training courses, workshops, webinars, network meetings, and projects, held both virtually and physically. The discussions also involved SESRIC’s productive collaboration with the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS), actively participating in OIC Statistical Commission sessions and providing valuable statistical data and information.

Expressing his gratitude for the kind visit, H.E. CONTEH underlined the Gambian national institutions’ readiness to both share their expertise and benefit from SESRIC’s activities as part of its outlined activities in the agenda, particularly in the areas of statistics, research, and technical cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both entities determined to enhance collaboration and initiatives between SESRIC and Gambian institutions, fostering a relationship built on mutual growth and development.
